Coronavirus (COVID-19)

 

The South Padre Island Municipal Court will be closed to the public until further notice.  The decision is made in an effort to limit the number of individuals gathering in a confined space to reduce the risks to public health.  Although operations are closed to the public,  individuals may still contact the Court by phone and email to get information and handle their cases; many options are available that do not require a personal appearance. 

Defendants who would like to schedule a video conference with the Municipal Judge, please send us an email to spicourtdockets@myspi.org and include the following:

  • Copy of your picture identification
  • Enter a plea of Guilty or No Contest
  • Copy of your citation
  • Provide your current mailing address
  • Provide your phone number
  • Provide your email address

Defendants who would like to enter a plea of Not Guilty, please send a written notice indicating this decision to spicourtdockets@myspi.org and include the following:

  • Copy of your picture identification
  • Copy of your citation
  • Provide your current mailing address
  • Provide your phone number
  • Provide your email address

The trial will not be set until the court resumes full operation.

All court dockets are cancelled.    Cases that are set on dockets will be rescheduled for June 17th; individuals will be notified by mail and/or email of their new court date.

All individuals are encouraged to call or email the Court in lieu of making personal appearances to take care of their court business.

Welcome to the City of South Padre Island Municipal Court web page. The Municipal Court strives to serve our internal and external communities with integrity, professionalism and the highest level of customer service while providing a variety of services.
 

The Municipal Court's primary function is to process all Class C Criminal charges filed by the Police Department and Code Enforcement Officers alleged to have occurred within the city limits of the City of South Padre Island. These include charges filed under the Texas Transportation Code, Penal Code, Alcoholic Beverage Code, Health and Safety Code, Education Code and the City of South Padre Island Code of Ordinances.

 

 

Mission Statement:

 

The Municipal Court will perform its job competently, efficiently, and fairly in order to merit public confidence. The Municipal Court will rely on Public confidence in order to enforce its orders. Municipal Court has a duty to create and maintain such public confidence in an order that persons can rely on the protection of the rights that all citizens have under the constitution of the United States. It has and will always be the intention of the Municipal Court to treat all citizens that come before the Court with respect, dignity and courtesy without regard to their race, color and or religion.
