Vehicle Identification Stickers

If you live and/or own property on South Padre Island, you will need a vehicle identification sticker to be able to return to the Island in the event the Island is evacuated as a result of an emergency. A vehicle identification sticker does not guarantee re-entry until emergency officials determine conditions are safe for return. If a storm is within 48 hours of landfall, stickers will no longer be issued.

Bring a completed Vehicle Identification Sticker Form and the following items to the City's Police Department to obtain a vehicle identification sticker: Note: Vehicle Identification Stickers will not be issued during an emergency.

Resident:

  1. Proof of residency if Drivers License does not show a physical Island address. A utility bill or copy of rental lease is acceptable.
  2. Drivers License.
  3. License plate number, make, model and color of each vehicle.

Only two (2) stickers are provided per family.

Business:

  1. The business owner or manager needs to provide the name of each employee, a copy of their driver's license, and the license plate number, make, model and color of employee's vehicle.

Only four stickers are provided per business.  The Re-Entry Form can be filled out and emailed with the required documentation to RRocha@MySPI.org.

Note: If you have an older Vehicle Identification Sticker, the telephone number on the back of the sticker may no longer be valid. The telephone number to call for new stickers is (956) 761-8147. We urge you to update your stickers, and if you have sold or traded your vehicle, please have those identification stickers removed.

If you have any questions, please call the Rachel Rocha at (956) 761-8147.
