6/30 - Causeway Closing
CAUSEWAY CLOSING WHEN CONDITIONS WARRANT
Based on increasing winds, the Texas Department of Public Safety is planning to close the Queen Isabella Causeway when conditions warrant that decision. The earlier notice about closing between 9:30-10:00am is not accurate. There may be little notice for this closing. This is a decision of the Texas Department of Public Safety, totally based on conditions and protecting the safety of everyone in the area. Once the causeway is closed, it will not be reopened until after the storm passes.
Storm updates will be be made through area media and also placed on the City's official website, www.southpadretexas.gov, on www.spiemergency.com and on our South Padre Island Emergency Management Facebook page.
