Event Description:

Spring Break 2013 is quickly approaching and the City of South Padre Island is hosting a public meeting to share how the City has been preparing for the influx of college students. Mayor Robert N. Pinkerton, Jr. will open the informal gathering set for Thursday, February 21, at 5:30 p.m. at City Hall (4601 Padre Boulevard) in the City Council Room.

Special Events Manager Mary K. Hancock will present a general overview of Coca Cola Beach, Fire Chief Burney Baskett will present on EMS, First Aid Stations and Triage Tents, and Police Chief Randy Smith will present on Public Safety, including security enhancements at Coca Cola Beach. A Spring Break Safety Guide will also be presented for distribution at area hotels and properties.

The meeting is designed to keep the business community and general public well informed of the City's planning and operations during this busy season to help ensure visitors and residents have a safe and enjoyable experience.
