Walk for Women presents SPICE, or South Padre Island Chili Expo, on February 2 at Louie's Backyard. A new event, the Mercado will be located on Laguna Boulevard, between Marlin Street and Ling Street at 10 a.m. Vendors will offer art, jewelry, ceramics and a variety of other crafts. The Chili Cook-off will open to the public at noon at Louie's Backyard with a $5 admission fee per person. The categories include Red Chili, White or Green Chili, Vegetarian Chili, and Beans. All proceeds benefit Walk for Women. Contact Rees at (956) 495-9884 to register your Cooking Team for a $25 cook-off entry fee. Vendors may also reserve a booth for the Mercado for $20; contact Jules at (956) 343-1218 to reserve a space.
