City of South Padre Island first responders are hosting the 2012 National Night Out on Tuesday, October 2, from 6-8 p.m. at the Island Baptist Church parking lot (off Padre Blvd. & Mesquite St.). The public is invited to meet with officials from the City's police, fire and EMS departments, as well as from the U.S. Coast Guard, Texas Parks & Wildlife and U. S. Border Patrol. Come enjoy free hot dogs, chips, popcorn, ice cream, cotton candy and drinks. There will also be music, educational activities and fun for all. Among the activities are karate sparring demonstrations by local area youth, an inflatable bouncer house, games, face painting, a bicycle fair and safety education presentation, and a chance to tour the newly constructed Fire Station No. 1.
