The City of South Padre Island invites the public to a Hurricane Awareness Meeting on Wednesday, May 22, at 5:30 p.m. at the South Padre City Hall (4601Padre Blvd.) 2nd Floor Council Room. Local officials and representatives from the National Weather Service will provide information on the 2013 Hurricane Season that runs from June 1 to November 30. The public can learn about the City's emergency plans and the coordination with other agencies that help ensure a safe and quick response in the event of a hurricane strike. Officials will also share valuable lessons learned from Hurricane Dolly in 2008.
