SPI City Council Meeting Summary for May 21, 2014

The City of South Padre Island held its Regular Called Council Meeting on Wednesday, May 21, 2014.
 
The Council approved the Consent Agenda that included, among other items, the acceptance of Texas Department of Transportation project grant agreement RPT 1401 in the amount of $620,000; and the second and final reading of Ordinance No. 14-07 amending Chapter 5, Article I, Section 4-5(A) by providing for the adoption of the current standard codes. Item 5. f, approval of Resolution No. 2014-07 authorizing application for a Texas Parks & Wildlife Local Park Grant Program for the SPI City Park located at 6100 Padre Blvd., was removed from the Consent Agenda to be brought back at a future meeting.
 
The Council also approved to proceed with analysis and feasibility of a 24-hour emergency medical clinic, including the possibility of appointing a task force in the future.
 
The City Manager will be developing a program that sets standards and a permitting/budgetary process for possible cost sharing with property owners to repair/replace sidewalks in front of their property as was approved by Council on Item 8.
 
The Council approved the first reading of Ordinance No. 14-08 amending Chapter 18 of the Code of Ordinances to add Section 18-19.3, prohibiting parking on the streets west of Laguna Boulevard in the “E” District unless the vehicle displays a hurricane return sticker; providing for exceptions for delivery and service vehicles, provisions for visitor and landscaping permits in right of way.
 
The final action was on Item 10, appointing Charles Brommer, Lynn Hughes, Dan Stanton and Patrick McNulty to the Capital Improvements Plan Advisory Committee.
