Firefighter/Paramedic:  (Full-Time)

Pay Range: $12.328/hour + $1.45/hour for Paramedic Certification Pay added to base hourly rate.

After successful completion of one year orientation period pay will be changed to: $14.389/hour + $1.45/hour for Paramedic Certification Pay added to base hourly rate.

Protects life and property by performing fire suppression, advanced life support (ALS) medical and trauma treatment, hazardous materials and fire prevention duties.  Maintains fire equipment, apparatus and facilities. Under general supervision of a Company Officer, provides basic and advanced life support services to ill or injured persons in accordance with the policies established by the South Padre Island Fire Department and the Medical Control Director. Applicants must be at least 18 years of age, possess a high school diploma or G.E.D., Texas “Class B” Driver’s License and a Texas Department of Health Certification as a Paramedic.

A Basic Firefighter Certification issued by the State of Texas Commission on Fire Personnel Standards and Education is preferred but not required to apply.
